Purpose: Why have an academy?

The purpose of the Media and Communications Academy is for students to have the following experiences:

• To identify with a smaller learning community within the large learning community of South Gate High School
• To develop positive relationships with other MAC Academy students and MAC academy teachers
• To experience a personalized education from MAC Academy teachers and supporting staff

Our vision is to incorporate media and communication skills across the curriculum in order to meet and exceed the California Content Standards so that all students can achieve academic success.

Our mission is to prepare our students for lifelong learning in a media-influenced society. We promote a creative and rigorous education across our curriculum through the use of media and communication skills .By working together, we instill strong ethics that help students achieve personal and academic goals.
